THE GIRL WHO SILENCED THE WORLD

VIDEO IS POSTED ON THE FORUM.

The following is the transcript of the speech that Severn Suzuki gave to the Plenary Session at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio Centro, Brazil. Severn was twelve years old. Become a Locavore

Rachael asked and below is my suggestion.

Hi everyone,
With the holidays approaching, I thought it might be neat for people to share their ecofriendly ideas for everything from food (maybe a good local-only ingredient recipe) to gifts (ideas for making gifts or reusable wrapping) to anything else that people can use to celebrate in a less wasteful manner.

The day the earth opened: Giant sinkholes appear in High Springs

Hello, everyone:
For those who did not see this story in the print edition, I thought I would post it here. Please pass this story along to those who you think may be interested. Basically, the story is, one day it rained a lot in a short period of time, causing giant sinkholes -- some 100 feet across and 75 feet deep -- to open in the city of High Springs. The pictures are pretty amazing. Anyone out there have any horror stories about sinkholes?

Large developments in Alachua will now receive greater scrutiny

With Alachua growing as it has been, this makes sense. And, as one commissioner says in the story, this should have been happening all along.

If You Are New To This Site, Please Read This:

Hello from The High Springs Herald. We have created this Website as a forum for people to stay informed about the North Florida environment.

Local residents, environmental groups and even politicians are encouraged to sign-up so that they can begin sharing information. So many times, there are a ton of groups doing the same thing without knowing others are out there. This Website can be a place for those groups to communicate.

Some of the features of this site include the ability to start an individual “group” page and to hold a “forum.” There is also a place where upcoming meetings can be added. Even photos can be uploaded.

Basically, the site is designed to be a one-stop place for people to find and give information on their local environment.

And don't forget that if you no longer live in the area, you can subscribe to The High Springs Herald and keep up to date on the latest news.
